The third day of the opening Test match between England and West Indies unfolded with poignant moments as both teams paid tribute to the now-retired James Anderson with a heartfelt Guard of Honour before the day’s play commenced.

A fitting tribute

As the match neared its likely conclusion on Day 3, players from both England and West Indies came together to honour Anderson, acknowledging his illustrious career as one of the finest bowlers in world cricket. The gesture was a culmination of respect and admiration for Anderson’s contributions to the sport.

Missed opportunity

During the end of Day 2, there was an initial plan by the West Indies team to give Anderson a Guard of Honour when he walked out to bat. However, amidst the celebrations of taking a crucial wicket, the moment was inadvertently overlooked, as explained by Jason Holder, West Indies’ captain.

A wonderful moment

Despite the earlier miss, players from both teams stood in formation, creating two rows facing each other, as Anderson made his way through the guard.
