The one-off Test between Bangladesh and Afghanistan began on Wednesday, June 14 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bangladesh openers Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan walked out to the middle to give a good start to their side.

However, their hopes were crushed as Nijat Masood dismissed Zakir Hasan (1) in the very second over with just six runs on the board. After the early blow, Mahmudul Hasan Joy (76) and Najmul Hossain Shanto (146) got together at the crease and put on a massive 212-run stand for the second wicket.
