Scotland have been forced to make a change to their squad competing in the ongoing ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 Qualifier in Pakistan.

Darcey Carter ruled out with hand injury, replacement announced

All-rounder Darcey Carter sustained an injury to her right hand during Scotland’s thrilling opening match victory against the West Indies on Wednesday, April 9. Carter had contributed significantly in that game, scoring 25 runs off 48 balls and also claiming the crucial wicket of West Indies opener Qiana Joseph with her first ball. The injury has unfortunately ruled her out for the remainder of the tournament.

Nineteen-year-old Kirsty McColl steps into the squad, receiving her first call-up to the senior national team. Although yet to make her full international debut, McColl represented Scotland at the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup earlier this year in Malaysia. The Event Technical Committee of the tournament has approved the replacement, allowing McColl to join the team immediately.
