Pakistan will lock horns with Australia in their third match of the Over 40s Cricket Global Cup. Pakistan were a formidable side in the inaugural edition of the tournament, having won the first two games against the United States of America and Nepal.
Batting first, Pakistan posted a mammoth 382 runs against Nepal. Top-order batters Hassan Raza and Amjad Ali, starred with the bat, scoring 154 runs and 108 runs, respectively. Meanwhile, Kashif Siddique also provided a significant contribution, amassing 66 runs.
Pakistan bowlers were relentless in the second innings. Muhammad Sami, Abdul Qadir, Haris Ayaz, and Kashif Siddique demonstrated exceptional bowling skills, each picking up two wickets. Nepal batters Suman Udaya and Santosh Bhandari attempted to resist the Pakistani bowlers’ attack, scoring 26 runs each, but their efforts were not enough to cross the line.
Nepal were bundled out for a paltry score of 134 runs in 36.3 overs, which helped Pakistan to register a comfortable 248-run win.
In the opening game of the competition, Pakistan defeated the United States of America by just one wicket. It has witnessed some outstanding performances, with Pakistan’s Tassavur Abbas emerging as the hero of the match.
Pakistan were chasing a 251-run target set by the USA. Abbas, who batted in eighth position, helped Pakistan with a brilliant half-century when it appeared the chase didn’t look possible for the side.
Pakistan are expected to perform admirably in the forthcoming match as well and are likely to continue their winning run in the tournament.
