On the eve of new year, the fans were elated with some terrific kabaddi featuring Bengaluru Bulls and Tamil Thalaivas. Bharat played a pivotal role as Bengaluru Bulls secured a 38-37 victory over Tamil Thalaivas in the Southern Derby, concluding their year on a high at the Noida Indoor Stadium on Sunday.
The match remained closely contested in the initial five minutes, with star raider Narender making significant contributions to give the Thalaivas the lead. With the score at 10-7, Bengaluru Bulls, left with only three defenders on the mat, seized the opportunity to execute a Super Tackle. Left cover Parteek foiled Ajinkya Pawar’s raid, adding to their defensive success. The encounter had fans at the edge of their seats as the two Southern rivals consistently earned points, maintaining a closely contested game. Narender continued to shine for the Thalaivas in the first half, securing more than half of the points for his team.
A crucial Super Tackle rescued Bengaluru Bulls when Saurabh Nandal initially grabbed the opponent raider. However, Tamil Thalaivas had the final say in the first half as Bharat’s unsuccessful raid for the Bulls resulted in All-Out points for the Thalaivas, leading with a score of 20-17 heading into the second half.
Bengaluru Bulls hold onto their nerves in second half
A Super Raid early in the second half propelled the Bengaluru-based side ahead of their rivals. Star Bulls raider Vikash Kandola successfully eliminated Mohit, Sahil Gulia, and M. Abishek in one go, maintaining the unpredictable nature of the game. Points for one team were promptly countered by the other, with the Thalaivas capitalizing on Super Tackle opportunities.
In the initial stages, substitute Sagar foiled Vikash Kandola’s efforts, and the Bulls raider faltered in a Do-or-Die Raid. Soon after, Iranian Amirhossein Bastami halted Neeraj Narwal, as the Thalaivas gained momentum in scoring. Just when the match seemed to be tilting in one direction, another successful All Out by Vikash Kandola for the Bulls ensured that the game would enter the final five minutes with the scores still level.
Despite the Thalaivas’ tenacity, highlighted by Narender’s impressive Super 10, accumulating a total of 12 points, Bengaluru Bulls ultimately emerged victorious in the South Indian derby. Bharat’s outstanding nine raid points, complemented by stellar defensive efforts from his teammates against players like Narender and Ajinkya Pawar, secured a triumphant start to the new year for the Bengaluru-based team.
