India and Australia will lock horns in the second T20I of the three-match series on January 7 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The hosts already took a 1-0 lead in the series, winning the first game by nine wickets.

In the first game, India invited Alyssa Healy and Co. to bat first after winning the toss. Young debutant Titas Sadhu finished with outstanding figures of 4/17 and helped India restrict the tourists to a below par 141 in 19.2 overs. Meanwhile, Shreyanka Patil and Deepti Sharma made two scalps each for the hosts. Later Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana stitched a 137-run opening partnership as India chased down the target with 14 balls to spare.

India, who came after a humiliating ODI series defeat, will aim to win the forthcoming match to clinch the series. Australia, on the other hand, will also look to win as fans can anticipate a thrilling encounter.

Here are the three Australia players to watch out for in the second T20I against India:

Beth Mooney

Beth Mooney could be the best batter for Australia in the second T20I against India. The wicketkeeper-batter has so far accumulated 2525 runs in 90 T20Is, at an average of 39.45, with a career-best 117*. She has showcased her prowess in franchise T20 leagues.

Phoebe Litchfield

The young batter was the only one who excelled with the bat in the first match against Harmanpreet-led side. The 20-year-old missed a well-deserved half-century for a single run after all other batters struggled in front of the Indian bowling attack. She will be eager to help her side win the forthcoming game inorder to stay alive in the series.

Ashleigh Gardner

Ashleigh Gardner is expected to be Australia’s best bowler in the forthcoming game. The spin all-rounder has picked up a total of 59 wickets in 80 games and amassed over 1000 runs thus far. She failed to excel with bat and ball in the opening game but is likely to play a pivotal role in the second match.
