Displaying vintage fluency, impeccable placement, and unshakeable calm, the former Indian captain stitched a defining partnership with Gaikwad to keep the South African bowlers under relentless pressure. Kohli’s century only amplified the excitement inside the stadium, turning the contest into a celebration for Indian cricket fans.

Earlier in the day, South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma won the toss and decided to bowl, hoping to exploit early morning conditions. The visitors made three changes—bringing back Bavuma himself along with Keshav Maharaj and Lungi Ngidi. The trio replaced Prenelan Subrayen, Ryan Rickelton and Ottniel Baartman as South Africa aimed to bounce back from their defeat in the first ODI.
