In the fast-paced world of Indian cricket and Bollywood, a single double-tap on social media can trigger a national conversation. This week, the spotlight shifted from the digital “noise” to the serene chants of Vrindavan. Indian cricket icon Virat Kohli and his actor-producer wife Anushka Sharma were spotted at the Shri Hit Radha Keli Kunj Ashram on Monday. This spiritual detour comes at a curious time, following a viral social media stir involving a German influencer that had fans and tabloids buzzing just days prior.
A spiritual retreat for Virat Kohli following ‘Instagram like’ controversy involving LizLaz
While the IPL 2026 season is in full swing, Kohli decided to swap his cricket whites for a simple full sleeve T-shirt to find a moment of peace. Accompanied by Anushka, who looked elegant in a simple salwar suit, the couple traveled to the holy town of Vrindavan to seek the blessings of the revered Premanand Ji Maharaj.
Unlike the high-octane atmosphere of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, the duo was seen sitting cross-legged on the floor among other devotees. They participated in an Ekantik Vartalaap (private spiritual dialogue), a practice they have frequented in the past to ground themselves during high-pressure phases of their careers.

The timing of this visit hasn’t escaped the public eye. Just last Friday, social media was set ablaze when a “like” from Kohli’s official Instagram account appeared on a photo posted by German influencer LizLaz. Though the like was retracted almost instantly, the “screenshot brigade” ensured the mishap went viral.
The influencer herself expressed surprise at the sudden influx of Indian fans on her profile, even telling media outlets she felt “a bit sorry” for the cricketer regarding the intense scrutiny. While Kohli’s camp has previously hinted at “algorithmic glitches” for similar past incidents, the couple’s move to Vrindavan suggests a conscious effort to disconnect from the digital frenzy and reconnect with their spiritual roots.
“No, I felt a bit sorry for him actually. I was so happy that he liked it, but then him unliking it-I felt a bit bad for him because I don’t even know how it became such a big story. How did people notice? How did they make it news? That was probably not his intention behind it, but still, I am grateful for it and I appreciate the support from him,” said LizLaz while talking to Hindustan Times.

Kohli’s impressive form in IPL 2026 boosts RCB’s campaign
While his visit to Vrindavan was about quiet reflection, Kohli’s performance on the pitch in IPL 2026 has been anything but silent. At 37, the “Run Machine” is currently spearheading the title defense for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) with a vintage display of dominance. Kohli recently reclaimed the Orange Cap, amassing 228 runs in just five innings at a staggering average of 57. Though currently, Heinrich Klaasen is at the top and wearing the prestigious cap.
What has truly stood out this season is Kohli’s intent; he is striking the ball at a rapid 158.33, blending his classic technical finesse with a refreshed aggression. From his unbeaten 69 (38)* in the season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad to a gritty 50 (38) against Mumbai Indians, Kohli has proven that age has only sharpened his hunger.
Even more impressive is that he achieved this while battling a minor knee niggle and a brief bout of illness, even coming on as an Impact Player against Lucknow Super Giants to deliver a crucial 49-run knock. For the RCB faithful, seeing their “King” at the top of the leaderboard is a promising sign that the defending champions are well-equipped for another deep run in the tournament.
