The Gujarat Titans (GT) have quickly established themselves as one of the most competitive sides in the Indian Premier League despite being among the league’s newest franchises. Introduced ahead of IPL 2022 alongside Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
Over the next few years, GT continued to dominate the league stage regularly and built a reputation for thriving under pressure. From lifting the trophy in their inaugural campaign to reaching another final in 2023, the Titans have already enjoyed plenty of memorable playoff moments in a short span.
Here’s how Gujarat Titans have fared in IPL playoffs:
As the IPL playoffs are underway, let’s take a look at how Gujarat Titans have performed on the biggest stage of the playoffs:
IPL 2022: Champions
GT produced one of the greatest debut campaigns in IPL history under Hardik’s captaincy. The Titans finished at the top of the points table after a dominant league-stage run and entered the playoffs as favourites. In Qualifier 1 against Rajasthan Royals (RR), GT chased down 189 comfortably thanks to David Miller’s sensational finishing and sealed a seven-wicket victory. The two teams met again in the final at Ahmedabad, where GT delivered another clinical performance. Restricting RR to 130, the Titans chased the target with ease, powered by captain Hardik’s all-round brilliance, to win their maiden IPL trophy in their very first season.
IPL 2023: Runners-up
GT once again dominated the league stage in IPL 2023 and finished at the summit of the points table. However, their playoff journey turned out to be far more dramatic this time. In Qualifier 1, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated GT by 15 runs to hand them their first playoff loss. The Titans responded brilliantly in Qualifier 2 against Mumbai Indians (MI), crushing them by 62 runs after Shubman Gill smashed a breathtaking century. In the final against CSK, GT posted a massive 214/4 batting first, but rain interruptions reduced the chase to 171 in 15 overs under the DLS method. The match eventually went down to the final ball, where CSK completed a thrilling five-wicket victory to deny GT back-to-back titles.
IPL 2024: Did not qualify
After two remarkable seasons, GT endured a difficult IPL 2024 campaign. With Hardik returning to Mumbai Indians before the season, Shubman took over as captain. The Titans struggled with inconsistency throughout the tournament and finished eighth in the standings. Injuries, lack of momentum, and failure to close out crucial games played a major role in their disappointing season as they missed the playoffs for the first time.
IPL 2025: Eliminator
GT bounced back strongly in IPL 2025 and once again qualified for the playoffs after finishing third in the league stage. Led by a strong batting unit and consistent bowling performances, the Titans looked like genuine title contenders. However, their campaign came to an end in the eliminator against Mumbai Indians. Despite several strong performances throughout the season, GT failed to overcome MI in the knockout clash and were eliminated before reaching Qualifier 2.
IPL 2026: Qualified for playoffs
GT have continued their impressive consistency in IPL 2026 by once again securing a playoff spot. Under Shubman’s leadership, the Titans finished second in the league stage and remain one of the strongest contenders for the title this season. With a balanced squad featuring experienced international stars like Jason Holder, Jos Buttler, Kagiso Rabada and exciting Indian talent, GT will now aim to add a second IPL trophy to their cabinet and further strengthen their growing playoff legacy.
