New Zealand unveil packed home season as India’s all-format tour takes centre stage; full schedule revealed

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has officially announced a blockbuster international schedule for the upcoming 2026/27 home summer. Promising a thrilling 41 days of elite cricket across eight distinct Kiwi host cities, the highly anticipated lineup will feature prominent inbound tours from major subcontinent powerhouses for both the men’s and women’s national teams. Fans are bracing for an atmospheric festival of sport, marked by intense rivalries, historic multi-format encounters, and crucial rebuilding windows ahead of forthcoming global tournaments.

India’s all-format visit headlines New Zealand’s home calendar

The undeniable crown jewel of the freshly minted calendar is Team India’s extensive, all-format tour of New Zealand. Spanning from late October to early December, this massive 12-match itinerary marks the single largest inbound international series ever hosted in NZC history in terms of total volume. The tour presents an increasingly rare treating for cricket purists, staging five T20Is, five ODIs, and a highly anticipated two-Test series.

This marquee tour represents the first time the Indian men’s team will play red-ball Test cricket on New Zealand soil since 2019, breaking a multi-year drought that has left local fans eager for top-tier Test action. Beyond the intense on-field competition, the white-ball leg of the series offers critical logistical value for a transitioning Indian side. As veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma plot their final roads toward the 2027 ODI World Cup, the challenging conditions of New Zealand will serve as an ideal testing ground for building vital one-day momentum. Matches will alternate across key iconic cricket centers, including Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, and Hamilton.

New Zealand Cricket announces complete fixture list

Beyond the marquee Indian visit, New Zealand Cricket’s complete fixture list outlines a jam-packed schedule designed to keep fans engaged well into early 2027. Following the departure of the Indian squad, the attention shifts swiftly to the women’s game. The White Ferns will step out to host Bangladesh in a six-match, limited-overs showdown starting on December 10. Comprising three T20Is and three ODIs, this short and sharp series serves as the White Ferns’ solitary home assignment for the season. A planned trans-Tasman tour to Australia in early 2027 has officially been postponed to accommodate the ICC’s rescheduling of the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka.

The home summer will draw to an emphatic close with the arrival of the Sri Lankan men’s team on January 16. Sri Lanka will challenge the Blackcaps across all three formats, featuring three ODIs, three T20Is, and two critical Test matches concluding in mid-February. This diverse schedule guarantees a summer loaded with high stakes, blending the fast-paced drama of twenty-over cricket with the traditional endurance of Test match campaigns.
