Imran Tahir produced a vintage performance for Guyana Amazon Warriors as they secured a four-wicket win over Saint Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2026. The 47-year-old spinner returned figures of 5/17 to play a major role in restricting the Kings to 119.
Among his five wickets was Matthew Forde, who was completely deceived by a wrong’un from the experienced leg-spinner. The delivery turned away from Forde after pitching, and the batter failed to cover his off stump as the ball went on to hit the stumps.

The dismissal came in the 12th over of the Saint Lucia Kings innings. Tahir bowled a wrong’un to Forde, who failed to read the delivery and decided to shoulder arms despite the ball heading towards his off stump. Forde was unable to bring his bat down in time as the delivery crashed into the off stump. It was Tahir’s fourth wicket of the innings and another reminder of the threat he continues to pose with his variations.
Tahir eventually completed his five-wicket haul by dismissing Joshua Bishop lbw. He finished with 5/17 from his four overs, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz claimed 3/13 on his CPL debut as the pair combined for eight wickets.

Guyana Amazon Warriors beat Saint Lucia Kings by four wickets
Saint Lucia Kings made a promising start after being asked to bat, reaching 51/1 in the powerplay. Kamil Pooran top-scored with 43, while Obus Pienaar added 35, but the innings fell away once Tahir and Mehidy took control. The Kings were eventually bowled out for 119, giving Guyana a modest target. The Warriors also lost wickets regularly during their chase, with Glenn Phillips making 37 and Quentin Sampson providing the decisive finish.
Sampson smashed an unbeaten 37 off just 11 balls, including five sixes and four fours, to take Guyana Amazon Warriors across the line with four wickets in hand. The victory took the Warriors to 14 points and confirmed their place at the top of the CPL 2026 league table.
