The catch looked convincing at first, and the scorecard briefly showed Kishan as having been caught by Forde. However, the on-field umpire decided to take another look at the footage before making a final call. The replays showed Forde landing on the ground with the ball appearing close to touching the surface.

His fingers did not seem to be in a position that clearly established control throughout the catch. After checking the footage multiple times, the umpire eventually ruled Kishan not out. The decision left the West Indies players furious, with the visitors visibly expressing their disappointment. However, the umpire stood by his call and Kishan remained at the crease.
