The hosts had set the stage with an imposing total of 230/6 in their 20 overs, putting the visitors under considerable pressure in the chase. However, the West Indies needed an aggressive start to stay in contention, and Shimron Hetmyer looked determined to make an impact at the crease. Just when the left-hander appeared to be settling in, Naman Dhir delivered a superb ball to end his innings and provide India with an important breakthrough.
Naman Dhir dismisses Shimron Hetmyer with a beauty
Dhir produced a moment of brilliance during the West Indies’ chase, dismissing Hetmyer with a delivery that beat the batter and sent the off-stump tumbling. The dismissal came on the sixth ball of the seventh over, giving India a timely breakthrough as the visitors attempted to build momentum against a challenging target.
Dhir bowled a flat delivery on a length that drifted slightly into the left-hander. Hetmyer went onto the back foot and attempted to whip the ball towards the leg side, looking to keep the scoreboard moving. However, the delivery came through quickly, leaving him with little time to adjust his shot.
Hetmyer failed to make contact, and the ball brushed his back pad before crashing into the off-stump. The Indian all-rounder immediately celebrated the breakthrough, visibly delighted with the result of his delivery, while Hetmyer walked back towards the pavilion shaking his head in disappointment.

Abhishek Sharma’s heroics guide India to a big total
Earlier, Abhishek Sharma had powered India to a formidable total with a blistering innings at the top of the order. The left-handed opener scored 69 runs from just 30 balls, striking six fours and five sixes to put the West Indies bowlers under sustained pressure.
India had suffered an early setback when Sanju Samson departed for just three runs. Abhishek responded by joining forces with Ishan Kishan to launch an aggressive counterattack, finding boundaries regularly and ensuring the hosts maintained a healthy scoring rate.
His innings also saw him create a significant record in T20I cricket. Abhishek became the fastest batter to reach 2,000 runs in the format in terms of balls faced, achieving the milestone in just 1,024 deliveries. He surpassed Suryakumar Yadav, who had previously reached the landmark in 1,164 balls.
Abhishek’s knock ended when Shamar Springer dismissed him with a caught-and-bowled effort after a mistimed pull shot. India received further contributions from Tilak Varma, who scored 28, Nitish Reddy (21), Axar Patel (20) and Prince Yadav (13), eventually finishing at 223 in 20 overs.
