India‘s pace attack continued to trouble New Zealand during the fourth T20I at Eden Park in Auckland. With the visitors already holding an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series, the hosts were under pressure to deliver a strong performance and avoid another defeat. However, India’s decision to bowl first after winning the toss quickly paid dividends, with young fast bowler Mayank Yadav making an immediate impact.
The express pacer produced two important breakthroughs during the opening stages of New Zealand’s innings. After removing Tim Seifert in the first over, Mayank returned in the third over to send the dangerous Daryl Mitchell back to the pavilion. The dismissal featured a brilliant 143kph yorker that left the New Zealand batter with no answer.
Mayank Yadav rattles Daryl Mitchell with a 143kph yorker
The incident occurred on the fifth delivery of the third over when Mayank ran in to bowl to Mitchell. Having already conceded 20 runs off four deliveries during the over, the Indian speedster responded with a superb yorker to turn the contest around.
Mayank fired the ball at 143kph, targeting the base of Mitchell’s stumps. The right-handed batter attempted to clear his front leg and drive the delivery but failed to make any contact with the ball. It struck his back boot on the full, prompting the umpire to raise his finger and give him out LBW.
Mitchell immediately opted for a review, hoping that he had managed to get an inside edge. However, the replays showed no contact between bat and ball. Ball-tracking subsequently confirmed that the delivery was heading into the off and middle stumps, leaving the third umpire with little choice but to uphold the on-field decision. The New Zealand batter had to walk back after wasting a review, while Mayank celebrated another important wicket for India. The dismissal also highlighted the young pacer’s ability to recover after an expensive start to the over. Despite conceding multiple boundaries, he maintained his composure and produced a near-perfect yorker to get rid of one of New Zealand’s key batters.

Ishan Kishan returns as India make two changes
India made two alterations to their playing XI for the fourth T20I. Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan returned to the side after recovering from a right adductor strain. He replaced teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made way for the experienced left-hander.
Mayank also came into the lineup, replacing veteran fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The Indian team management opted for the express pacer’s speed, hoping to utilise the extra bounce and seam movement available at Eden Park.
Meanwhile, New Zealand made one change to their combination. Nathan Smith replaced Kyle Jamieson as the hosts looked to strengthen their bowling options for the contest.
