Jake Paul Announces Tommy Fury Fight on August 6th: “I’ll Take His ‘Head Off”

Jul 12, 2022

Jake Paul, who announced earlier this month that he will return to the ring on Aug. 6, has confirmed that Tommy Fury will be his opponent at the Madison Square Garden night.

Paul made the following announcement on Twitter:

Paul and Amanda Serrano announced on June 10 that they will co-headline a fight event in New York City.

No opponent was chosen for either, however it was always expected that Fury would take on Paul.

Brenda Carabajal will face Serrano to defend her WBC, WBO, and IBO female featherweight crowns. The Puerto Rican fighter is coming off a split-decision loss to Katie Taylor in a lightweight match in April. It was her first defeat since Frida Wallberg defeated her by unanimous decision in 2012.

Fury was supposed to face Paul on December 18, but he had to pull out due to a fractured rib and a bacterial illness. Tyron Woodley replaced Paul in a rematch of their August bout, which the controversial YouTube personality won by split decision.

Paul defeated Woodley in the second round with a sixth-round knockout. He is 5 to 0 in boxing, but Fury is his first opponent with any kind of track record.

Fury, the half-brother of WBC and The Ring heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, is 8-0 with four knockouts, but this is his first eight-round battle. On April 23, he defeated Daniel Bocianski by unanimous decision at Wembley Stadium.

Paul has already defeated former MMA fighters Woodley and Ben Askren, as well as former NBA player Nate Robinson and YouTube personality AnEsonGib.
