India A Women defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs in the final of the ACC Women’s Emerging Team’s Cup 2023 to clinch the title at the Mission Road Ground, Mong Kok, Hong Kong on Wednesday, June 21.
Speaking of the game, India A skipper Shweta Sehrawat won the toss and opted to bat first against Bangladesh A in the summit clash. No batter excelled with the bat as they were restricted to 127/7 in 20 overs. Dinesh Vrinda top-scored for India, with 36 off 29 deliveries, including five fours and one six.
Apart from Dinesh, Kanika Ahuja also provided a much-needed contribution, scoring an unbeaten 30 off 23 with the help of four boundaries. For Bangladesh, Nahida Akter and Sultana Khatun picked up two wickets each while Sanjida Akter Meghla and Rabeya Khan picked up one scalp each.
While chasing a below-par score, Bangladesh A fell short in front of India’s bowling attack. Shreyanka Patil was instrumental for India, as she finished with 4-13 in her four-over spell. Apart from Patil, Mannat Kashyap claimed a three-wicket haul, Kanika Ahuja picked up two wickets and Titas Sadhu grabbed a wicket as India A restricted Bangladesh to 96 in the final over.
The Shweta Sehrawat-led India A reached the final after finishing on top of the Group A points table, with four points. India A started their campaign with a comfortable win over Hong Kong A. Shreyanka Patil was named Player of the Match as she finished with figures of 5-2 against Hong Kong A.
Following that they couldn’t play a single game until final as matches against Nepal A and Pakistan A were washed out. Later, rain washed out the semi-final against Sri Lanka A as well.
Bangladesh A, on the other hand, headed into the final after a win against Pakistan A in the semi-final.
