WEST INDIES VS BANGLADESH MATCH DETAILS:

Match: West Indies vs Bangladesh, 3rd ODI, Bangladesh tour of West Indies, 2022
Date and Time: July 16, 2022, Saturday, 07:00 PM IST
Venue: Providence Stadium, Guyana

West Indies (WI) and Bangladesh (BAN) will clash in the third ODI on Saturday, July 16. This is the final match of their three-match series, with Bangladesh having sealed the series 2-0 coming into this contest.

The Tigers redeemed themselves after disappointing earlier on tour. They registered a six-wicket win in the first ODI and backed that up with a nine-wicket win in the next.

With their win on Wednesday, they also took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Their bowlers were impressive once again, as they bowled out the West Indies for just 108 in 35 overs. Mehidy Hasan picked up four wickets, while Nasum Ahmed picked up three. The visitors set up the game nicely once again courtesy of a brilliant display with the ball.

Their batters then made light work of the chase to wrap up the game in just 20.4 overs, with captain Tamim Iqbal scoring an unbeaten fifty to lead from the front. In the process, Bangladesh proved once again that they’re a far better unit coming in the ODI format, registering a comprehensive victory.

Meanwhile, after dominating in Tests and T20Is, things have gone south for the West Indies in the one-day series. They have failed to cross the 150-mark for the second time. Their performance in the second game was poorer compared to the first.

With the series already lost, West Indies will look to end it on a positive note with a better performance in the third ODI.

WEST INDIES PREVIEW

The home side has struggled to put up a strong fight as a unit in the first two matches of the one-day series.

In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Shai Hope, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran, Rovman Powell, Shamarh Brooks, and Brandon King to deliver the bulk of the runs and help West Indies to post a modest total on the board.

In the previous match, the batting lineup struggled and was bundled out for 108 all out in 35 overs. In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, and Akeal Hosein to deliver timely breakthroughs.

BANGLADESH PREVIEW

The visitors have managed to turn things around in this one-day series with two consecutive victories. In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Mahmudullah, and Najmul Hossain Shanto to deliver the bulk of the runs.

In the previous match, Captain Tamim Iqbal was the standout performer with the bat for Bangladesh.  He played well and finished the innings with the top score of 50 not out off 62 balls with the help of seven boundaries. He was well supported by Liton Das, who scored 32 not out off 27 balls with the help of six fours.

In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Nasum Ahmed, and Mehidy Hasan to provide crucial breakthroughs.

In the second game, off-spinner Mehidy Hasan was the standout performer for Bangladesh and claimed 4 for 29 in eight overs. Besides Mehidy, left-arm orthodox, Nasum Ahmed, also bowled well and finished with figures of 3 for 19 in his ten overs.

WEST INDIES VS BANGLADESH PITCH REPORT

The pitch at the Providence Stadium is a balanced track. The new ball comes nicely onto the bat and the batters can hit through the line. The ball tends to hold a bit on the surface and the spinners will come into play in the latter stages of the game.

WEST INDIES VS BANGLADESH PROBABLE XI

WEST INDIES

In the second ODI, Keemo Paul was the top scorer with 25 as they were bundled out on 108. Gudakesh Motie picked up the lone wicket for them as they failed to defend the total.

PROBABLE XI

Kyle Mayers, Shai Hope (wk), Shamarh Brooks, Brandon King, Nicholas Pooran (c), Rovman Powell, Keemo Paul, Romario Shepherd, Akeal Hosein, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph

BANGLADESH

Mehidy Hasan and Nasum Ahmed wreaked havoc as they picked up four and three wickets respectively in the second ODI. Skipper Tamim Iqbal remained unbeaten on 50 to take his side across the line with nine wickets in hand.

PROBABLE XI

Tamim Iqbal (c), Litton Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan (wk), Mosaddek Hossain, Mehidy Hasan, Nasum Ahmed , Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam

PROBABLE THE BEST BATTER OF THE MATCH

TAMIM IQBAL:

Skipper Tamim Iqbal has been in impressive touch lately. Opening the innings for his team, the left-handed batter stroked an excellent unbeaten fifty in the second ODI and won the game for his side. The veteran batter will look to play a similar kind of innings in the third and final match as well.

PROBABLE THE BEST BOWLER OF THE MATCH

MEHIDY HASAN:

Senior spinner Mehidy Hasan has been too good for the West Indies batters as the right-arm off-spinner has bowled some tight lines and lengths in the 50-over series and has bowled match-winning spells as well. He even grabbed a total of four wickets for his side in the second ODI.

CAN WEST INDIES (WI) BEAT BANGLADESH (BAN)?

Bangladesh comes into this game on the back of consecutive wins. They had a stellar all-around outing in the second ODI, which will boost their confidence. It’s commendable to see them put the woes of the Test and T20I series behind them to bounce back so convincingly in the ODIs.

West Indies have struggled with their batting in this series. Their batters will have to rise to the occasion to challenge the upbeat visitors in the final game to salvage some pride.

The visitors, under Tamim Iqbal, have now beaten the West Indies five times in as many games and continue to enjoy a successful run in the one-day format recently. They are likely to beat the hosts once again and complete a 3-0 clean sweep.

Prediction: Bangladesh to win.
