India and Pakistan have been involved in some great matches in the T20 World Cup. Some of those matches are regarded to be the best in the history of the tournament. The most recent of them was in 2022 which is etched in the memory of the fans from both teams. It promises to be a box office contest whenever the two sides take on each other. The match between the two sides is always hyped to the limit.

Here are the top 5 greatest matches between the two sides in the history of the T20 World Cups –

5. India’s extension of winning streak in T20 World Cup 2016

For the first time in the T20 World Cup, India was hosting the T20 WC. India took on Pakistan at Eden Gardens in a rain-affected game. In the stipulated 18 overs, Pakistan managed to score just 118 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. India was reduced to 23/3 while chasing the target. From there, Virat Kohli took India home with his calculative knock of 55*(37).

4. Pakistan’s only World Cup win against India in 2021

Across the ODIs and T20Is, Pakistan’s only win against India in the World Cups came in 2021. Batting first, India managed to score just 151 runs. Pakistan chased the target with relative ease. Their opening duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan cruised through the run chase by scoring 68(52) and 79(55), respectively. Pakistan chased the total without losing a wicket.

3. Virat Kohli’s masterclass in the T20 World Cup 2022

The most recent T20 match between the two sides turned out to be a banger. Batting first, Pakistan scored 159 runs on the back of a good knock from Iftikhar Ahmed. Chasing 160, India was reduced to 39/4 at one stage. That was when Hardik Pandya assisted Virat Kohli in an insane run chase. The chase master pulled off yet another incredible chase with an unbeaten 82*(53).

2. India’s historic moment in 2007

After suffering a heartbreak earlier in the year in the ODI World Cup 2007, a young team was sent for the T20 World Cup 2007. India became the inaugural champions by beating Pakistan in the final. Gautam Gambhir’s knock with the bat and Irfan Pathan’s spell with the ball were the highlights of the match as Misbah Ul Haq failed to take Pakistan home in the last over.

1. Arguably the greatest T20 match in 2007

In the 2007 WC, India took on Pakistan in Durban in the 10th match of Group D. India managed to score just 141 runs, thanks to a fiery spell from Mohammad Asif. Chasing the total, Pakistan was reduced to 87/5 at one stage. Despite the efforts of Misbah Ul Haq, the scores were level. In the first and only bowl-out instance in the T20 WC, India beat Pakistan with some tactical brilliance.
