ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 Pakistan vs Bangladesh Match Details, Team News, Pitch Report, Probable Playing XI, and the Match Prediction

Mar 14, 2022

Pakistan (PK-W) and Bangladesh (BD-W) will lock horns in the 12th match of the Women’s World Cup 2022 on Monday, March 14, at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Pakistan, captained by Bismah Maroof, has had a disastrous campaign thus far. Having lost all three of their matches, the Women in Green are placed at the bottom of the table with a net run rate of -1.274. South Africa, led by Sune Luus, handed them a six-run defeat in their previous game.

Pakistan got off to a brilliant start as Fatima Sana and Diana Baig got rid of Lizelle Lee and Tazmin Brits cheaply. But an 89-run stand between Laura Wolvaardt and skipper Luus brought South Africa back into the contest. Both batters scored half-centuries and looked steady. But leg-spinner Ghulam Fatima pinned both batters and Marizanne Kapp to put pressure on South Africa. From there on, Trisha Chetty and Chloe Tryon scored 31 runs each to help their team post a respectable score of 223 for nine on the board.

Pakistan looked steady in their run-chase, although the required rate kept climbing. While Nahida Khan scored 41, skipper Maroof bagged a golden duck. Omaima Sohail and Nida Dar tried to keep their team in the hunt by scoring gutsy half-centuries. But with 10 runs needed off the last over, Pakistan stumbled. Shabnim Ismail, who won the Player of the Match award, bowled brilliantly and didn’t allow the Pakistan batters to take their team home.

Bangladesh, led by Nigar Sultana Joty, meanwhile, started with a spirited showing over South Africa, although they lost by 32 runs. Thereafter, they lost to Sophie Devine’s New Zealand in a rain-curtailed 27-over game after being put in to bat, Shamima Sultana and Fargana Hoque Pinky’s 59-run opening stand put Bangladesh in command.

Pinky scored a well-made 63-ball 52 with the help of one-four. But the Tigresses lost wickets in the mid-overs and ended with 140 for eight. The White Ferns tracked down the target in 20 overs riding on Suzie Bates’ unbeaten 68-ball 79. Amelia Kerr also made an unbeaten 37-ball 47.

Match: Pakistan Women vs Bangladesh Women, Match 12, ICC Women’s World Cup 2022
Date and Time: March 14, 2022, Monday, 03:30 AM IST
Venue: Seddon Park, Hamilton

The pitch at the Seddon Park in Hamilton has been an excellent one for batting. But the chasing teams have found it tough to adjust to the surface. Winning the toss and batting first should be the way forward.

The playing conditions should be pleasant with no chance of rain for the time being. The temperature will be around the 22-degree Celsius mark throughout the game. The humidity will mostly be in the 40s.

Pakistan is likely to make a few changes after three consecutive losses so watch out for the playing XI. Omaima Sohail, Nida Dar, Fatima Sana, and Nahida Khan have done well and are likely to be certainties along with captain Bismah Maroof.

Probable XI – Sidra Ameen, Nahida Khan, Bismah Maroof (c), Omaima Sohail, Nida Dar, Aliya Riaz, Fatima Sana, Sidra Nawaz (wk), Diana Baig, Nashra Sandhu, Ghulam Fatima

Bangladesh made a few changes in their last game. Having lost two games, more changes can not be discounted. The likes of Fargana Hoque, Ritu Moni, Fariha Trisna, and Nigar Sultana have done fairly well and will be certainties in the playing XI.

Probable XI – Shamima Sultana, Fargana Hoque, Nigar Sultana (c & wk), Rumana Ahmed, Sobhana Mostary, Ritu Moni, Salma Khatun, Lata Mondal, Nahida Akter, Jahanara Alam, Fariha Trisna

Ghulam Fatima played her first WC game in the previous match against South Africa and the legspinner bowled very well picking up 3 wickets.

Nida Dar scored a hard-fought 50 in the previous match and is a very experienced player who will also bowl her full quota of overs which makes her a good option to have.

Shamima Sultana is a good player at the top of the order and showed good form in the previous match while scoring 33 runs off 36 balls against New Zealand.

Fariha Trisha was spectacular with the new ball in the opening match where she picked up 3 wickets against South Africa. She don’t have many targets to defend in the last game but could be a handful for this match.

Both Pakistan and Bangladesh are yet to register a win in the competition. Overall, Pakistan has beaten the Tigresses in six out of 11 ODIs. Both teams have given each other a run for their money. For the upcoming game, the team batting first will have an advantage as both teams have strong bowling attacks.
