The 3rd place playoff between Oman and Nepal is probably the most exciting contest in this final stage of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2022. Like all other matches at this stage, this match is also purely academic in a sense and does not have any significance attached to it, however, Oman and Nepal are very closely matched as teams making the contest worth watching.

Match prediction and cricket betting tips for Oman vs Nepal T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022. The match is going to be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1), Al Amerat on the 24th of February 2022.

OMAN VS NEPAL TEAM PREVIEWS

OMAN

Oman has been a bit disappointed in this edition of the Qualifiers. They were playing at home and should have had the maximum advantage even before a ball was bowled. Unfortunately, its player development seems to have hit a wall.

The batting was underwhelming in almost every match as the batsmen kept on repeating the same kind of mistakes and throwing their wickets away. They do have a couple of good batsmen like Jatinder Singh and Zeeshan Maqsood but none of the batsmen are in good form.

Bilal Khan and Kaleemullah have probably been among the best bowlers for Oman so far but even they have not had the support that they would have liked. From playing in the T20 World Cup just a few months ago to being knocked out of the Qualifiers is a big drop for Oman.

NEPAL

Nepal threatened but eventually fizzled out. It was in an easy group and won the matches that it was supposed to. However, as soon as Nepal came up against a stronger opponent, its weaknesses were laid bare. Nepal’s batting is still very poor and the concept of building an innings seems to be lost on its top order.

Take Kushal Bhurtel and Dipendra Singh Airee out from this lineup and you have a batting lineup that would struggle in top-tier school cricket.

The bowling lineup is also too dependent on Sandeep Lamichhane. Teams play him out while taking minimal risks because they know that the other bowlers are quite easy to attack. As tempting as it may be to think of Nepal as the next Afghanistan, we don’t think they are anywhere close to being that good.

OMAN VS NEPAL PITCH REPORT

The wicked will assist the bowlers. Batting might not be as easy on these surfaces so batters will need to spend time in the middle before playing their shots. The team that wins the toss would thus like to bowl first.

The weather is expected to be clear during the match with no chance of rain. Thus playing conditions will be good with the temperature around the 23 -24 degrees Celsius mark.

OMAN VS NEPAL MATCH PREDICTION

Nepal had a great run in the group stages and was clinical in all three of their games. Thus, they are expected to bounce back in this clash.

Oman put up a decent showing as well but struggled with their batting. Batters from both sides will be tested which could make for an interesting battle. Based on recent form, Nepal will start this game as favorites.
