Jasprit Bumrah is a key cog in the Indian bowling line-up and his injury has been a major issue for the Indian team management for long time now. He is still recovering from a back strain but there is great hope since he has been seen bowling in the nets at NCA.
Bumrah has been a mainstay in the Indian team ever since he made his debut in 2016. His ability to bowl with the new ball, during the middle overs and excelling with the yorker ball at the end, simply makes him one of the most lethal bowlers in the world. He has all the deliveries that can trouble a batter in his skill set and uses it to perfection to dismiss the best of the batters.
India and Indian cricket team fans would be hoping that Bumrah recovers quickly as Australia is touring India for a four-match Test series starting next week. He has already been ruled out of the first two Test matches of the series and it might be a big miss considering the strong Australian batting line-up.
There is hope for the Indian team fans as Bumrah was seen bowling in the nets and has more than three weeks to retain match fitness and join the Indian squad for remaining two Tests of Border Gavaskar Trophy. Bumrah has been out of action since September, therefore, gaining match fitness will be a problem.
India do have quality pace options in the form of Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Jaydev Unadkat. In Bumrah’s absence, Siraj and Shami’s duo has been doing the job for the team and getting quick wickets and breaking down crucial partnerships. India would want to be at full force at least for the last two Tests to make sure of any challenge posed by the team from down under.
