In the first ODI between India and Australia, the hosts took off to a flying start as they rattled the Australian batting order to eventually bundle them out for just 188. The caravan was initiated by Mohammad Siraj who gave India their first breakthrough by bowling out Travis Head in the second over itself. Head edged an ‘outside the off-stump’ delivery which eventually dropped in to strike the stumps. With the first wicket, Australia were swiftly reduced to 5/1.

What followed was a delightful celebration by Siraj and a jovial Virat Kohli who invoked football legend Cristiano Ronaldo as the duo celebrated the wicket in the trademark style of the Portuguese footballer. While Siraj was quick to perform Ronaldo’s trademark ‘Siu’, Virat Kohli took to his ‘Nap’ celebration to mark the early fall of wicket.

A video of this celebration was shared by the BCCI on its official Twitter handle which garnered immense traction as soon as it was put on the site.

Mitchell Marsh’s stand-alone fight propels Australia to a respectable score

Australia suffered a downright setback in the first innings as most of their batters failed to rise to the occasion and bail the team out as it was going down with every passing second. Right after the fall of the second wicket, the Australian innings came tumbling down as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Lone support to the team was provided by opener Mitchell Marsh who scored 81 runs out of the total 188, that too with an impressive strike rate of 124.62. His 65-ball innings included 10 fours and five sixes which kept him going till the 20th over, before being caught by Mohammad Siraj off Ravindra Jadeja.

Apart from Marsh, Jos Inglis scored 26 while skipper Steve Smith scored the third-highest 22 in 30 balls. For India, Mohammad Shami and Mohammad Siraj took three wickets each whereas Ravindra Jadeja picked two scalps.
