ENGLAND VS. INDIA MATCH DETAILS

Match: England vs. India, 2nd ODI, India tour of England, 2022
Date and Time: July 14, Thursday, 2022, 05:30 PM IST
Venue: Lord’s, London.

India destroyed the strong batter order of England in the first ODI match. Well, everything went in the favor of India but I can’t expect the same in this second match. These types of matches can be seen after a long time. Still, both teams are almost equally strong, at least on papers and we can see a very close match. This match is a must-win for England otherwise, they will also lose the ODI series, the same as the T20. Many of today’s prediction providers are favoring India as a strong team as per our thought. England and India face off in the second game of the three-match ODI series on Thursday, July 14. The match will be played at the iconic Lord’s in London.

Building on the momentum from the win in the T20I series, India trashed England in the opening ODI at the Kennington Oval. Pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami ran through England’s batting as the hosts skittled out for a paltry total of 110, managing to play only 25.2 overs. Bumrah registered his best ODI figures, picking up six wickets while Shami claimed three.

Jason Roy, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, and Liam Livingstone even failed to get off the mark as none of the English batters could get going. It was a thoroughly disappointing performance from England with the bat and they will need their top guns to put this outing past them and make a comeback in this match.

The Indian openers then made light work of the chase, getting past the line in just 18.4 overs. Skipper Rohit Sharma remained unbeaten on 76 while Dhawan spent time in the middle to get to 31 as India wrapped up the game with ten wickets to spare and take a 1-0 lead in the opening ODI.

High on confidence, India will aim to seal the ODI series as well with a win in the second game. After being handed a crushing defeat, hosts England will be keen to avenge their loss and keep the series alive. It should be another cracking contest, to say the least.

ENGLAND REVIEWS

England will surely be disappointed with their performance in the opening match which they lost by a big margin but we don’t think that they will panic. This is true that they have a strong batting order on the side. We think that conditions in Lord’s will not favor the batting department of England. We had seen in the past the batting order of England had struggled against the swing deliveries. The pitch at this venue is also a bit slow and spin-friendly which is another dangerous point for England. The form of the batters of England is also not good which is a big problem for England to put some big runs on the board. We are expecting that Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy will score some big runs in this match.

Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow will also face a lot of problems with the new ball at Lord’s while Jose Buttler, Joe Root, and Ben Stokes will come for the batting later when the ball is a bit old and the conditions will be perfect for batting. Like the batters, the bowling department of England was also struggling in the first match. They bowled out a lot of short balls and did not even try to get some type of help from the conditions as Indian bowlers did. David Willey, Topley, Ben Stokes, and Carse will also get some help from the conditions at Lord’s but it also depends on the bowling strategy.

INDIA REVIEWS

India had changed the playing philosophy and this had made team India a batter side of white ball cricket. India had been struggling to pick early wickets in the powerplay overs but we saw this in the first ODI match. The conditions were also in the favor of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami and both bowlers were outstanding in the first ten overs. We don’t think that India will change the bowling department in this match. Bumrah was the highest wicket-taker in the first match with six wickets to his name in 7.2 overs against just 19 runs. Mohammad Shami picked three wickets.

The batting department of India was not tested much in the first match as the openers chased a low target. Rohit Sharma played aggressively and he was also moving forward while batting. He is back to good form which is good news for India. He scored 76 runs with the help of six boundaries and five huge sixes. Shikhar Dhawan was struggling early with the new ball and he picked some time to adjust to the conditions. The form of Virat Kohli is still a question mark. Shreyas Iyer is the other batter who is not in good form and this match will be a test for him.
