England vs. India Match Details
Match: England vs. India, 1st ODI, India tour of England, 2022
Date and Time: July 12, Tuesday, 2022, 05:30 PM IST
Venue: Kennington Oval, London

India and England are set to lock horns in the first game of the three-match ODI series on Tuesday, July 12. The Kennington Oval in London will host the contest.

India, captained by Rohit Sharma, recently won the T20I series 2-1, although they lost the third match at Trent Bridge by 17 runs. Suryakumar Yadav scored a 48-ball century in Nottingham, but his valiant efforts couldn’t help India chase down 216.

The three-match ODI series is expected to be a different ball game altogether. The last time India played a 50-over series in England, the hosts won the series 2-1. Joe Root scored twin centuries to take them past the finish line.

Root has been in impressive form in Test cricket and he’ll be looking to carry the form in the ODIs. Ben Stokes is also back into the team after leading England to victory in the fifth Test at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Jason Roy and Jos Buttler didn’t have great outings in the T20Is and will be looking to make amends. The series is also a chance for Virat Kohli to show that he hasn’t run out of gas in top-level cricket by any stretch of the imagination.

England had picked the best squad for the ODI series and their full strength will be available for almost all three matches. Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow, and Joe Root are available in the squad of England. We all know that all three batters are dangerous in ODI cricket and if just one of these three batters put some big runs on the board, England can easily win the series of three ODI matches. All three batters add extra strength to the batting of England that was missing in the T20 series. We are sure that Bairstow and Joe Root will score runs in today’s match. We think that Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow will open the batting inning for England in this match.

Jason Roy had not been in good form since some last matches. Moeen Ali, Jose Buttler, and Liam Livingstone are the batters who will surely score runs in this match. The bowling department of England is also strong and experienced at least on paper. David Willey, Craig Overton, Reece Topley, and Matthew Parkinson will be handling the bowling department of England and we are sure that these all bowlers will be part of the final playing eleven of this match. These all bowlers can also bat well in the middle and last overs which is a plus point for England. Plenty of experienced all-rounders are also part of the squad of England.

India adopted a new philosophy of attacking and this strategy worked properly for India. They will be happy with what they did in the T20 series. The batting department of India is changed as it was in the T20 series. They had added some new and some experienced batters for the ODI series. We think that Rohit Sharma will open the batting inning for India with Shikhar Dhawan while Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rishab Pant are available in the top and middle batting order. We think that one batter from Shreyas Iyer or Suryakumar Yadav will get a chance to play this match. In our opinion, Suryakumar Yadav will play this match and Shreyas Iyer will be rested for this match.

India has got another piece of good news as Hardik Pandya is back to the good form and he will surely bowl more overs than the T20 series. It means that India can get an extra battery in the final playing eleven. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Prasidh Krishna, and Yuzvendra Chahal will be the other four bowlers in the final playing XI for this match. This bowling department is very dangerous in white-ball cricket, especially in the ODI format. Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya bat in the middle overs and have six-hitting capability. Both batters can be dangerous in this match. The form of Virat Kohli has a big question mark and he had been under pressure since he left the captaincy. Can he change his fate in this series? Time will tell us. The big problem of Virat Kohli is his fitness. If he is fit, he will surely put some big runs on the board.

England had played a total of 765 ODI matches so far. They won 388 matches while other teams won 340 matches. 29 matches of England ended with no result and one match was tied and eight matches of this team were tied.

India had played 1002 ODI matches right now with 521 wins to their name while they had lost 431 matches. Their 41 matches ended with no result and nine matches were tied.

England had played 103 ODI matches against India where they had won 43 matches while India had won 55 matches. Three matches of England against India ended with no result and two matches were tied.

The toss is going to play an important role in the decision of every match of this series. According to toss prediction, the team who will win the toss may elect to bat first.

The 1st ODI Match match between England and India is going to be played at Kennington Oval, London. The pitch at this stadium is excellent for batting. The boundaries at this venue are short and will bring the spinners into play. The pitch will continue to be good for batting throughout the match. A total of 190 can be difficult for batting second to chase.

The weather forecast in London on match day is good for a cricket match. There are some chances of rain but that is possible that we may have an interrupted match.
