After the breathtaking action in the league stage, the IPL 2023 will move towards the playoffs as Gujarat Titans take on Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday, May 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. GT and CSK finished on the first and the second spot respectively on the points table. The two teams met earlier in the tournament in the curtain raiser where Gujarat emerged victorious by five wickets. 

Both teams had an incredible run in the league stage and will give tough competition to each other in Qualifier 1. As both teams prepare themselves to lock horns in the big match, let’s take a look at three players to watch out for in Qualifier 1:

Devon Conway

The southpaw is the highest run scorer of his side with 585 runs to his name from 13 innings at an average of 53.18 and a strike rate of 138.62. Conway has been consistent for CSK throughout the tournament and will be eager to get his side off to a rollicking start against the good bowling attack of GT. 

Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has been the leading run scorer for Gujarat in the season with 680 runs to his name in 14 innings at an average of 56.16 and a strike rate of 152.47 with two hundreds and four fifties to his name. The 23-year-old has carried his magnificent form from international cricket into the IPL and will be eager to go big in the playoffs as well.

Shivam Dube

The southpaw from Chennai is going through some magnificent ball-striking form in the ongoing IPL 2023. Shivam has been providing CSK’s innings with the impetus it requires in the middle overs and towards the fag end. He is in the top-five list of players who have hit the most number of maximums in the ongoing season and would love to put on an exhibition of his stroke play in Qualifier 1.
