However, this successful team also holds 2 very unique records – The team with the most playoffs appearances (eleven times) and the team to have lost the most number of IPL finals (nine times). Also for the record, CSK had their worst IPL outing on 2 occasions – they finished last in 2020 and second-last in 2022.

With a fresh new start with the 16th edition of the cash-rich league, here are 3 players who could be the major game-changers for the Yellow Lions as they would be looking to getting back to their former winning ways :-
1. Ben Stokes
Ben Stokes is a completely different player in present, more so since his return from his “indefinite-break” from cricket due to mental health issues. The sturdy-built all-rounder from England ban bat and ball with equal intensity. CSK would like to bank on Stokes as the explosive middle-order batter to fuel the innings to a grand total, and use him as a 6th bowling option as well to balance the team’s playing XI. In short, Stokes could definitely be the gap-filler for Dwayne Bravo. Stokes’ batting is very important for the team in yellow, as he can take down pace bowling with ease in a line-up that is predominantly aggressive against spin.
2. Ravindra Jadeja
Ravindra Jadeja has been out of action for quite a lot of time now, and the bowling all-rounder is hungrier than ever to get back onto the field. He has been the most reliable player, both for India and CSK, mainly for being the perfect “all-rounder” – great batter, brilliant bowler and an outstanding fielder. Jadeja’s presence in the team would primarily be for his exceptional fielding skills. With the ball, Jadeja can spin and deceive batters to cause those unplayable overs and dismantle the momentum. 3. Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been the pick for CSK ever since he was purchased by the Yellow Lions. The young batter has been the perfect opener CSK were searching for and in IPL 2023, the 25-year-old would be the obvious option to open the innings for CSK. Though Ruturaj had a moderately low outing in the previous season, yet his 99 off 57 and a 182-run partnership with Devon Conway was a massively standout performance, which ultimately turned out to be CSK’s highest opening stand in IPL history.
