The five-time IPL champions had the worst outing in 2022.

The Mumbai Indians (MI) are the most successful and one of the most popular franchises of the Indian Premier League (IPL), as they have won the title a whopping five times and have produced some mind-boggling performances in the tournament history.

However, in the 15-year history of the cash-rich league, the Reliance Industries-owned franchise would definitely like to erase 2022, as they ended up coming last in the points table, shockingly losing their first 10 matches on the trot.

After the mini-auction in December 2022, MI would be satisfied with their purchases, though they had let go of some of their greatest contributors. So with a fresh start, here are three players who might just as well be the game-changers for MI in 2023:

3 players who can be standout for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2023

1. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been in the form of his life in recent times. In 2022, he was the most reliable contributor with the bat for India, For the Mumbai Indians, he has stood up on multiple occasions with some amazing performances. His 360-degree play has helped him choke opposition bowlers and MI would definitely be banking on him to contribute for them in the coming season. He had joined MI in 2011 before going to KKR in 2012. He returned to MI in 2018 and has been there ever since.

2. Tristan Stubbs

Tristan Stubbs is going to play for the Mumbai Indians and he will definitely play a key role for the franchise. He was the highest-bid player in the SA20 league. This shows that the franchise and the scouts trust him and his abilities. He can hit the ball a mile and has the ability to single-handedly deliver victories for the team on his day. The Mumbai Indians scouting program has found a gem in the form of Stubbs and he is surely one player to keep an eye on in the upcoming edition.

3. Dewald Brevis

South Africa cricketer Dewald Brevis stole the show in the SA20 tournament opener as he smashed an unbeaten 70 to take MI Cape Town to a comfortable win over Paarl Royals by eight wickets. It has been reported that the 19-year-old might just be the perfect opener to open the innings for the Mumbai Indians in the upcoming edition. Also known as ‘Baby AB’, Brevis received accolades from AB de Villiers himself for his unbeaten 70 off 41 knock in the SA20. He first came into light after the U19 Men’s World Cup in 2021. This young talent, coupled with Ishan Kishan, can be the dangerous opening pair MI can have in IPL 2023.
