The Indian Premier League (IPL) took to their official social media handle to share a clear video of Rohit Sharma’s controversial dismissal against Rajasthan Royals. The peculiar dismissal grabbed headlines in the historic 1000th match of the IPL in which Mumbai emerged victorious in a thrilling affair.

Notably, Sanju Samson’s Royals posted a humongous 212 runs in the first innings as Yashasvi Jaiswal registered a terrific century (124 off 62 balls). In reply, Rajasthan extended their domination as they got the early scalp of skipper Rohit Sharma in the second over of the chase.

However, it was the manner by which Rohit was dismissed that grabbed eyeballs as many speculated that his counterpart and wicketkeeper, Sanju Samson dislodged the bail. While there was massive uproar on social media with eagle-eyed fans questioning Samson’s ‘suspicious act’, the IPL shared a fresh video to put an end to the baseless speculations.

The video shows a side-angle view of the dismissal wherein Sandeep Sharma’s knuckle ball narrowly brushes off the bail, thereby dislodging it and there was a clear gap between the keeper’s gloves and the stumps. In doing so, Rohit was dismissed for mere three runs off five balls.

Despite this, it was Suryakumar Yadav and Cameron Green who carved out vital knocks with 55 and 44 runs, respectively to keep MI steady in the chase. Down the order, Tim David showed nerves of steel in the final over as he slammed three sixes on the trot off Jason Holder to snatch the victory from the Royals by six wickets.

Speaking about their standings, Mumbai are placed seventh on the IPL Points Table with four wins and as many losses in eight games. On the other hand, Rajasthan are relishing a fine season with five wins in nine outings and are placed third on the table.
