Following their heated exchange during an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Lucknow back in 2023, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir, both hailing from Delhi, put their differences aside in a heartwarming gesture at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru a year later. This touching moment occurred during the clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday (March 29).

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir’s heartwarming gesture

During the pivotal strategic timeout following the conclusion of the 16th over, Gambhir, in his role as mentor for the Kolkata, gracefully stepped onto the field. He made a beeline for Kohli, who was seen seeking a moment of composure during the intermission. In a poignant moment, they exchanged handshakes, followed by a warm embrace, symbolically putting to rest any lingering tensions of the past.

Things we love to see 😊

Delhi Police’s humorous take on the incident

While the incident garnered widespread attention across social media platforms, the official account of Delhi Police seized the moment in a humorous twist. They cleverly utilized the opportunity to raise awareness among the masses about the role of Delhi Police in resolving conflicts and brawls. Through their witty approach, they not only entertained the audience but also conveyed an important message.

“Jhagda hua? (Caught in a brawl?) Dial 112 aur jhagda ko shaant karao! Koi jhagda ‘Virat’ ya ‘Gambhir’ nahi (Dial 112 and get the dispute resolved! No dispute is colossal or serious),” the post read.

KKR’s dominant victory over RCB in IPL 2024

Meanwhile, despite Kohli’s impressive knock of 83 runs, it proved futile as Kolkata dominated Bengaluru, marking the home side’s first loss in IPL 2024. KKR’s opening duo of Phil Salt and Sunil Narine set the stage for the 183 runs chase, laying a solid foundation. Venkatesh Iyer‘s stellar half-century further bolstered their innings, guiding them to their second victory of the season.

Narine and Salt’s aggressive play during the powerplay, accumulating over 80 runs, paved the way for Venkatesh and Shreyas Iyer to comfortably chase down the remaining runs. Narine’s explosive batting, contributing 47 runs off just 22 balls along with a crucial wicket, earned him the prestigious Player of the Match award.
