Nortje’s figures take a beating amid Dhoni’s onslaught

As Dhoni continued his onslaught, striking boundaries and sixes with precision, Nortje’s bowling figures took a beating, conceding 43 runs in his four overs. However, Dhoni’s heroic effort wasn’t enough to secure victory for CSK, as they fell short by 20 runs against Delhi, led by Rishabh Pant. Earlier in the match, Delhi’s opening pair, David Warner and Prithvi Shaw, laid a solid foundation with a rapid 93 runs partnership. Nevertheless, Chennai’s bowlers staged a strong comeback, limiting Delhi to 134/4 at one stage.

Pant, making a comeback to cricket after a 15-month injury hiatus, displayed his batting brilliance in this tournament after two lackluster performances. He crafted a fine innings of 51 runs from 32 deliveries, embellished with four boundaries and an equal number of sixes. What stood out was his transformational innings; despite a slow start, scoring just 23 off his initial 23 balls, he swiftly shifted gears. Pant’s fluent stroke play and aggressive approach then propelled his side to a commanding total, ultimately proving pivotal in determining the outcome of the match.
