IPL 2024 [WATCH]: Rohit Sharma gets a medal for his stellar knock during MI vs LSG match

In the 67th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) emerged victorious over Mumbai Indians (MI) by an 18-run margin. MI’s decision to bowl first backfired as LSG put up a formidable total of 214 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, with Nicholas Pooran‘s exceptional knock of 75 runs off 29 deliveries.

In the chase, Rohit Sharma showcased his brilliance with an impressive innings of 68 runs off 38 balls, with a notable strike rate of 178.75. His knock was comprised of 10 fours and 3 sixes. This inning highlighted the immense talent of the former MI captain, although it ultimately did not result in victory for his team. Following the match, Rohit was acknowledged and praised for his outstanding performance in the team’s dressing room.

In a video posted by MI on their official social media account, the team’s head coach, Mark Boucher, was captured commending the 37-year-old cricketer for his exceptional innings. Subsequently, team owner Nita Ambani presented Rohit with a special medal in recognition of his stellar knock against LSG. Rohit was applauded by his teammates as he received the medal.

Rohit receives a standing ovation at Wankhede Stadium

The right-handed batter appeared to be in fine form with the bat until his innings was abruptly halted by Ravi Bishnoi in the 11th over, as he edged one straight to Mohsin Khan at short third man. As Rohit departed for the pavilion, the Nagpur-born cricketer received a standing ovation from the crowd at the Wankhede Stadium.

Meanwhile, Rohit concluded the season as the leading run-scorer for MI, amassing 417 runs from 14 innings at an average of 32.08 and a strike rate of 150. His tally included one century and one half-century.
