Mumbai Indians (MI) star and Indian cricketing icon, Rohit Sharma, recently found himself in the midst of a light-hearted yet humorous situation following a viral video controversy. Known for his jovial and witty nature Rohit’s funny interactions often get caught on the mic, endearing him to fans and adding a touch of humor to the intense cricketing environment.

During a pre-match (Mumbai vs Lucknow Super Giants) interaction, Rohit hilariously requested the broadcasters to shut down the audio while recording him, a nod to the recent uproar caused by a previous recording.

The viral conversation with Abhishek Nayar

The controversy began after MI’s 13th fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), where Rohit was seen having a conversation with KKR’s coaching staff member Abhishek Nayar. The audio from this chat was posted by KKR on their social media handles. Fans quickly interpreted the conversation, speculating that Rohit was discussing his departure from MI after the ongoing season. The led to a social media frenzy, prompting KKR to take down the video.

Rohit’s playful plea to broadcasters

A few days after the incident, ahead of MI’s match against LSG, Rohit was spotted having a casual chat with Dhawal Kulkarni. Noticing the recording, Rohit humorously pleaded with the broadcasters to stop the audio recording

“Bhai audio band karo haan, already ek audio ne mera waat laga diya (Brother please close the audio, one audio has already made things difficult for me).” This playful request quickly went viral, adding a light-hearted twist to the previous controversy.

Rohit Sharma’s mixed performance in IPL 2024

In the ongoing IPL 2024 season, Rohit’s performance has been a mix of highs and lows. He has scored 349 runs in 13 innings, averaging 29.08 with a strike rate of 145.42, including one century. Despite a strong start to the season, accumulating 297 runs in the first seven innings, his form dipped significantly, managing only 52 runs off 59 balls in the last six games, resulting in a strike rate of 91.

Mumbai Indians’ struggles under new leadership

Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, Mumbai have faced a challenging season. The five-time champions won only four out of their 13 games, placing them at the bottom of the points table with just eight points. This has been a tough transition period for MI, traditionally one of the IPL’s most dominant teams.
