Dhoni, sporting his trademark long hair, entered the Wankhede Stadium with renewed vigour. His 20-run knock off just four balls took CSK’s total to a formidable 206. The crowd erupted in a standing ovation as Dhoni walked to the crease, showcasing his enduring popularity.

Dhoni’s cameo, coupled with Matheesha Pathirana‘s fiery spell reminiscent of Lasith Malinga, sealed the Super Kings’ first win away from home this season. MI, meanwhile, slumped to their fourth defeat in six games, despite a valiant knock from Rohit Sharma. CSK bowlers executed their plans flawlessly in challenging conditions to restrict the strong MI batting line-up.
