IPL final Rain
After much wait, the IPL 2023 final between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans has been finally shifted to reserve day i.e. Monday, May 29, after incessant rain spoiled the show on Sunday, May 28. Just half an hour before the scheduled toss time at 6:30 pm, the heavens opened the gate, and Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad witnessed a heavy downpour for hours, leaving fans frustrated.
The heavy showers continued for two and a half hours, and the covers came off for some time, giving a glimmer of hope to the fans. However, the rain once again returned half an hour later, and the covers came back again, much to the dismay of fans all around the world.
The cut-off time for the rain to stop for a five-over-a-side game was 11:00 pm* according to the match officials, and seeing the conditions not improving, the officials decided to shift the match to the reserve day. The game will now take place tomorrow at the scheduled start time of 7:30 PM.
There was much excitement among the fans ahead of the big game as several CSK fanatics had thronged the stadium to see their captain MS Dhoni reportedly for one last time, with the rumours of his retirement after the ongoing season all around.
GT and CSK will come rejuvenated
The match was supposed to be a carnival for the fans as artists King and Nucleya were set to perform on the big night. Nucleya managed to enthral the fans with his performance before the rain came down.
Both teams will now come rejuvenated tomorrow to lock horns and grab hold of the coveted trophy. CSK will be eyeing their fifth title to go level with Mumbai Indians in terms of most IPL titles to their name. On the other hand, Gujarat will look to win their second consecutive title to become the first team to win two IPL titles in their first two attempts.
