David Warner is among the accomplished players in today’s cricketing landscape. Warner began his international journey in 2011, and over the span of 13 years, he has amassed a multitude of achievements, including 4 ICC trophies and an Indian Premier League (IPL) title.

Warner’s retirement announcement earlier this year, bidding farewell to ODIs and Tests, was a significant moment in cricket. However, the star player is not ready to hang up his boots as he continues to play T20Is and IPL. Earlier, Warner had revealed that he would retire after the T20 World Cup 2024.

David Warner speaks on his retirement

In a conversation on Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s YouTube show, Kutti Stories, Warner expressed his interest in settling down in India after retiring from cricket. He disclosed that he currently doesn’t own a house in India and had considered purchasing one at a certain point.

“I do not have a house in India. I did look at some stages. I get a lot of people asking me if I want a house here. One day, maybe when I finish my cricket, I would like to come here and spend some time. Lifestyle is good. I am a people’s person. I go to the malls with my girls and I embrace everything,” Warner said on Ashvin’s show.

Warner’s love for India and its culture is no secret. The Australian cricketer, who is often seen embracing Indian culture, imitating movie dialogues, and even adopting the style of Indian actors on the field, has endeared himself to Indian fans. Praising their friendly nature, Warner shared that he often goes out without security, a move that some consider risky. However, he believes that fans respect his privacy, understand when he’s out with the family and keep a respectful distance.

“People say I am mad for going out without security and all that. But, at the end of the day, people have a lot of respect. I think people come and ask for photos, yes. But when you are out without your kids and embracing the culture, I think people understand and keep their distance,” the 37-year-old stated.

Playing for Delhi Capitals (DC), Warner accumulated 167 runs in seven matches during the seventeenth season of the IPL but is currently benched. Nevertheless, he stands as the third-highest run-scorer in the lucrative league’s history, amassing 6564 runs in 183 matches. Additionally, he has claimed the Orange Cap in three editions (2015, 2017 and 2019).
