A standout moment occurred when Powell launched the longest six of the tournament. Facing off-spinner Frank Nsubuga in the 11th over, Powell hit the first ball for a boundary. On the fourth delivery, he advanced down the pitch and effortlessly sent the ball soaring over the long-on boundary. The shot traveled a staggering 107 meters, clearing the stadium roof and setting a record for the longest six in the T20 World Cup 2024 so far.

Powell was dismissed soon after his remarkable six, scoring 23 runs off 18 balls, leaving West Indies at 125/4 in the 16th over. Andre Russell then took over, scoring a rapid 30 off 17 deliveries, guiding the team to a competitive total of 173/5 in 20 overs. In response, Uganda’s batting lineup crumbled against the West Indies bowlers. Akeal Hosein‘s exceptional left-arm spin resulted in figures of 5/11 from 4 overs, leading to Uganda’s collapse for just 39 runs, securing a massive 134-run victory for the Caribbean side.

This win marked West Indies’ second consecutive victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup, placing them second in Group C behind Afghanistan, with four points from two matches. The two-time champions will now face New Zealand in a high-profile clash in Trinidad on Wednesday, June 12, aiming to continue their winning streak and solidify their position in the group.
