England showed power in the first T20 even though they are playing without their key players. The batting and bowling performances of England were just outstanding. Pakistan had a grip on the match till the 10th over of their batting but soon they lost the momentum. The middle batting order of Pakistan is not performing well since the Asia Cup and if they don’t take any action, they are going to face a lot of problems in future matches.

Pakistan Reviews

Pakistan made some changes in the final playing eleven for the first T20 match and gave a chance to Haider Ali and Shan Masood but they were not good. These both players are good batters and need some time to set up and play a main role for the team. The biggest problem of Pakistan had been the low strike rate, especially in the middle overs. We saw in the first match that Pakistan scored 87 runs in the first ten overs and lost just one wicket and they scored just 71 runs in the next ten overs and lost six wickets. Pakistan should have an immediate look at the middle batting order to change things in their favor.

Mohammad Rizwan is continuing the good form that he got in Asia Cup and proved the most successful batter in the first match. He scored 68 runs on 46 balls with the help of six boundaries and two huge sixes. He improved his strike rate which is a good thing for Pakistan. Iftikhar Ahmed also performed well in the first T20 match. He was criticized after his poor performance in the Asia Cup. Mohammad Nawaz and Khushdil Shah once again failed to have some runs to their names. The bowling unit of Pakistan was also not impressive in the previous match. Naseem Shah failed to pick wickets with the new ball and leaked 41 runs in four overs and remained wicketless.

England Reviews

England had a winning start to this important tour of Pakistan and won the first match with a handsome margin of six wickets. The bowling unit of England bounced back after a poor performance in the first ten overs where they were struggling. They leaked 158 runs in 20 overs on a batting-favored pitch. Luke Wood debuted in the T20 International and proved the most successful bowler. He picked three wickets in four overs against just 24 runs. Adil Rashid also performed well and picked key wickets for Pakistan.

We do not doubt that the batting order of England is very strong when it comes to white ball cricket. They are dangerous with the new ball and have a decent record to score runs in the powerplay overs. Philip Salt, Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Ben Duckett, Harry Brook, and Moeen Ali can be dangerous on the pitches of Karachi and Lahore. Alex Hales was the most successful batter from their side who scored 53 runs on 43 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Harry Brook was the other batter who was just outstanding with the bat.
