As Pakistan defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets in the tri-series championship game, Iftikhar Ahmed struck 25.

At Christchurch’s Hagley Oval on Friday, Pakistan defeated New Zealand by a margin of five wickets in the T20I tri-series championship game. Pakistan had four balls left to score two runs to win after setting a target of 164 runs in 20 overs. At this point, Blair Tickner was hit for a six by Iftikhar Ahmed, who had moved over the stumps, giving Pakistan the victory and ending the game. The defender at the boundary made a valiant effort but was unable to prevent the six.

Chacha made the decisive shot, the winning shot of the series. 

In New Zealand, Pakistan wins this series with consistent and outstanding performance.

With victory at hand, props go to the Pakistani squad that performed well in this tournament,  but especially to Nawaz and Haider, outperforming most in the tourney.

Pakistan was able to cross the finish line with three balls remaining thanks to Iftikhar’s 25 not out off 14 balls and Mohammad Nawaz’s important 38 not out off 22 balls.

With an opening match against bitter rival India on October 23, it was encouraging for Pakistan moving into the World Cup in Australia.

At Hagley Oval, after the hosts reached their final score of 163 for 7, bowler Michael Bracewell halted Pakistan’s initial momentum in their reply until Nawaz came up with his pivotal innings.

Nawaz played another outstanding innings, and he also helped Pakistan escape difficulty during their dead-rubber triumph over Bangladesh on Thursday. Iftikhar Ahmed then hit a six in the penultimate over to give Pakistan the victory.

It’s important to remember that Nawaz had also contributed with the ball, going 1 for 33 in four overs. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah each took two wickets for Pakistan during the match.

In the final of the tri series, which was played on Friday at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch, all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz and middle-order batsman Iftikhar Ahmed propelled Babar Azam’s Pakistan to a commanding victory against New Zealand. Babar’s Pakistani team crushed New Zealand in their final T20 International match before the ICC World T20 2022, serving as a timely reminder ahead of the next tournament.

The Green Army’s victorious run-chase in the 20-over match was completed by explosive batter Iftikhar teaming up with an effective Nawaz. Pakistan prevailed by 5 wickets in the nail-biting final over after Iftikhar smoked a huge six to put the game to bed. After Pakistan’s historic victory over New Zealand, the World Cup runners-up from last year, fans and supporters of the Green Army were eager to praise the batting prowess of Iftikhar and Nawaz.
