The eighth season of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (2023) is rapidly approaching its summit clash. Lahore Qalandars and Multan Sultans, who are placed in the first and second positions on the points table of the tournament, respectively, will be facing each other in the Qualifier on Wednesday, March 15 at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Multan Sultans are coming off a magnificent victory in their previous game as they faced Quetta Gladiators in the 28th match of the tournament. Batting first, Multan Sultans notched a mammoth score of 262 runs on the board thanks to Usman Khan’s wondrous ton, where he scored 120 runs off 43 deliveries.

Skipper Mohammad Rizwan also scored 55 off 29 balls to propel his side to the huge score. Despite scoring 262, Multan Sultans did concede a lot of runs. Fortunately, the team won the game by the narrowest of margins. Abbas Afridi, who was named Player of the Match, took a fifer and was one of the biggest thorns in Quetta Gladiators’ quest to the run chase. Thanks to a joint effort by both the batting and bowling line-up, Multan Sultans won the game by nine runs.

Lahore Qalandars, who finished the league stage by staying at the no. 1 spot on the points table, will look to grab a win in the Qualifier and book their place in the final.

Qalandars, who were coming off a win against Islamabad United, were halted by Karachi Kings in the 30th match of the tournament. Batting first, Karachi Kings managed to score 196 runs in 20 overs. Qalandars came in to bat with the hopes of grabbing yet another win, but their opponents had different plans.

Hussain Talat, Zaman Khan, and Haris Rauf put in decent performances with the ball as they took two wickets each to stop Karachi Kings from reaching the 200-mark.

Karachi put in a fabulous performance with the ball as Lahore Qalandars were bundled out for just 110. Talat’s 25 was the highest score for his side. As the Qualifier approaches, the team will be looking to heavily improve on their performance as compared to the previous game.
