The toss was won by India’s captain Rohit Sharma, who decided to chase in the last T20I series match against Australia in Hyderabad. Both teams made a single adjustment: Australia replaced Sean Abbott with Josh Inglis and India reinstated Bhuvneshwar Kumar in place of Rishabh Pant.
Offspinner R Ashwin was unable to compete because India once again placed their trust in leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal. India won an eight-over shootout in Nagpur to even the series going into the second T20I in Hyderabad after dropping the first T20I in Mohali.
On what appeared to be a “decent surface,” Australia’s captain Aaron Finch stated that he would have loved to bowl first as well.
