On July 11, Monday, the opening game of the T20 World Cup Qualifier B 2022 will take place between Singapore and Zimbabwe. Where Zimbabwe may be perceived as being a little under confident because they are entering this match with a losing streak and may try to put it behind them this time. We may picture Singapore being rather confident because they are entering the game with a winning memory of their last match. However, both sides will attempt to begin their participation in this event with a victory

MATCH DETAILS:

SIN TEAM NEWS

Singapore has handed out five T20 international debuts in this series as they continue to make their first steps in the format. Neither Aahan Gopinath Achar nor Anitra Dutta made a big impression last time out, however, so those changes could be reversed.

SIN KEY PLAYERS

Tim David: Top-scored for Zimbabwe with 64* from 44 balls in the opening game, before hitting two fours and four sixes in an innings of 41 from 24 balls when these teams last. The runs are flowing for David at the moment.

Janak Prakash: Has proved himself useful with the bat in the middle order, while he claimed 2-34 last time out to move to three wickets in the series.

Amjad Mahboob: The Singapore captain took 2-20 on his return to the team last time out – comfortably the most economic of Singapore’s bowlers.

SIN TEAM FORM

Singapore bounced back from defeat to Nepal – failing to defend 151/3 in the wake of a Paras Khadka onslaught – by beating Zimbabwe when these teams last met. Tim David and Manpreet Singh both hit 41 in a total of 181/9 before Amjad Mahboob’s 2-20 helped them restrict Zimbabwe to 177/7 from 18 overs.

SIN VS ZIM WEATHER REPORT

The thunderstorms that prevented play in the penultimate game of the series are due to abate just after lunchtime in Singapore. From then on, it is set fair for the day – though the chance of rain will continue to hover around 20 percent.

SIN VS ZIM PITCH CONDITION

The Singapore pitch has been balanced and, crucially, consistent too. There is something in it for the batsmen and the bowlers.

SIN VS ZIM TOSS PREDICTION

Zimbabwe is yet to win the toss in the tournament but the trend for teams that have won the toss has been to bat first in Singapore.

Brian Chari, Richard Ngarava, Daniel Jakiel, and William Mashinge have all made their Zimbabwe T20i debuts in this series.

ZIM KEY PLAYERS

Sean Williams: The captain and all-rounder have been in excellent form. He took 2-19, 1-34, and 3-21 in the three games so far, and comes into this match on the back of scores of 66 and 53 in his last two innings.

Tendai Chatara: Took four wickets in his two games in the Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series and has two from two – both against Nepal – so far in this tournament. He now has 60 T20 wickets from 54 innings in his career.

He then scored 66 from 35 balls against the hosts, but Zimbabwe finished four runs short of Singapore’s 181/9 in a match reduced to 18 overs. They bounced back last time out, however, as Williams scored 53 in a total of 160/6 and took 3-21 as they held Nepal to 120/9 in reply.
