Melbourne Stars face an uphill battle as they take on the Adelaide Strikers in the 39th game of the Big Bash League 2021-22. The Adelaide Strikers made a comeback in the tournament with a win against the Hobart Hurricanes in their previous game. The Stars on the other hand went down against Melbourne Renegades in a one-sided contest.

The Melbourne Stars are facing a tough situation in the tournament with the majority of their players having been ruled out due to Covid. The side has suffered big losses in the last two games it has played and would be without Glenn Maxwell in this game. It remains to be seen if they can produce a good show in this game under this resource crunch, MLS are still underdogs with all betting apps in India.

TEAMS PREVIEW

ADELAIDE STRIKERS PREVIEW

Peter Siddle’s side finally struck form in their last game against the Hobart Hurricanes. It was a dominating show from the side as they won the game by 7 runs. Siddle would sniff an opportunity here as the Stars would struggle to put in a Playing XI and he would aim to get the best show from his players and improve position on the points table

Matthew Short would be confident after his good show in the last game and aim to set up a good opening wicket stand with Henry Hunt. Matt Renshaw, Jake Weatherald, and Jonathan Wells haven’t been in the best of form and the side would like to see a good show from them in this game. In Thomas Kelly, Harry Nielson, and Rashid Khan the side has good hitters of the ball down the order.

Matthew Short and Harry Conway did well with the new ball in the last game and the side would expect to see the same from them here. Siddle and Wes Agar also made a good comeback after poor form in the earlier games. With Rashid Khan on the side, they would count their chances.

MELBOURNE STARS PREVIEW

The going is getting tough for the Stars. Glenn Maxwell has tested positive for the virus and this has thrown the team in a big mess. They have been badly hit by Covid with a majority of their players unavailable for selection and now Maxwell’s unavailability puts them in a tight spot. It remains to be seen how the side fares in this game.

The side would like to see a good start from Justin Avenando and Travis Dean in this game and these players would have a big responsibility on their shoulders. Charlie Wakim, Hilton Cartwright, and Xavier Crone would have to add runs in the middle order and fill the void due to Maxwell’s absence. Patrick Rowe and Tom O’Connell shall have a big role to play down the order.

The depleted bowling attack has looked weak, and the side would like to see better spells from Ahmed Daniyal and Qais Ahmed with the new ball. Haris Rauf and Brody Couch are experienced bowlers, and the onus would be on them to deliver here. The side would also want to see tight bowling from O’Connell in this game.
