The Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) is gearing up for another exciting clash as Adelaide Strikers Women face off against Sydney Thunder Women at Cricket Central, Sydney on November 20, 2023.
Adelaide Strikers Women have been in brilliant form, winning eight of their 11 games and securing a spot in the next round. They currently hold the second position on the points table.
In their last match against Sydney Sixers, they secured a comfortable seven-wicket victory, thanks to outstanding bowling performances by Danielle Gibson, who took three wickets, and strong batting contributions from Katie Mack and captain Tahlia McGrath as they both scored 45 and 38 respectively.
Meanwhile, Sydney Thunder Women have also performed well in the tournament, winning seven of their 11 games and holding the third position on the points table.
In their last match against Perth Scorchers, they secured a dominant nine-wicket victory, with standout performances from bowler Lauren Smith and batter Chamari Athapaththu. Smith took three wickets while Chamari played a brilliant 77 runs knock to finish off the chase quite comfortably.
In head-to-head stats, Adelaide Strikers Women have won eight out of 16 matches against Sydney Thunder Women, while Thunder have won six matches. Two matches have ended with no result.
The pitch at Cricket Central in Sydney is expected to be supportive for batters, with some initial assistance for seam bowlers. Spinners may come into play later in the innings. Both teams will be looking to put up a competitive total, with the team winning the toss likely to aim for a score of around 180 to put pressure on the chasing team.
