India Women would be up against Sri Lanka Women in the 2nd game of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 2022. The Indian team, which starts as one of the favourites in the tournament, shall look for a good start after their recent success during the tour of England. Sri Lanka Women have battled poor form in recent months, and they have to punch above their weight to win this game.

Sri Lanka Women come into this tournament with their confidence low. They are up against a team they have struggled against in the past. In the last ten games, the side has managed just one win. Indians have a strong batting line-up and an experienced bowling attack. They would look to make good use of it here.

TEAMS PREVIEW

India Women’s Preview

Harmanpreet Kaur shall aim for a good show from her players in this game. The side comes with their tails up after the good performance in England. They have enjoyed an excellent record against the Sri Lankans and look to continue the same way. Kaur would like her batters to do well and gain confidence for the rest of the tournament.

Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma make a formidable opening pair, and they would look to set up a good stand at the top. Jemimah Rodrigues has been in good form and will look to make runs in the middle order with Kaur and Deepti Sharma. The side bats deep Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, and Richa Ghosh, having proved their skills as finishers.

Renuka Singh and Meghna Singh must do well with the new ball as the pair haven’t been consistent in these conditions. Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana shall enjoy bowling in these conditions and look to trouble the Lankan batters. Vastrakar, Verma, and Radha Yadav add variety to this attack, and the side would have big expectations from them.

India Women’s Predicted Playing XI:

Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Shafali Verma, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Richa Ghosh (wk), Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Radha Yadav, Sneh Rana, Meghna Singh, Renuka Singh

Sri Lanka Women’s Preview

Chamari Athapaththu likes leading from the front, and she will look to start the tournament with a win. The side has struggled against higher-ranked teams and needs to play positively to win. Athapaththu shall expect clinical performances from her players and look to put Indians on the dock.

Chamari Athapaththu will have to play a vital role in opening the batting with Hansini Perera. In the middle order, the side would expect runs from the bats of Harshitha Madavi, Kavisha Dilhari, and Nilakshi de Silva as Indian bowlers would make life challenging. Kavisha Anushka Sanjeewani must do the big-hitting along with Inoka Ranaweera and Oshadi Ranasinghe in the lower middle order.

Oshadi Ranasinghe and Sugandika Kumari need early breakthroughs for the side to put the Indians under pressure in this game. Inoka Ranaweera and Achini Kulasuriya shall play an important role in the game’s middle overs. The side would also like to see good spells from Kavisha Dilhari and Athapaththu.

Sri Lanka Women’s Predicted Playing XI:

Chamari Athapaththu (c), Hasini Perera, Nilakshi de Silva, Anushka Sanjeewani (wk), Kavisha Dilhari, Harshitha Madavi, Sugandika Kumari, Inoka Ranaweera, Oshadi Ranasinghe, Malsha Shehani, Achini Kulasuriya

Weather Conditions

There would be overcast skies over Sylhet on October 1. Batting conditions are expected to be challenging, and we will not likely see a high-scoring contest. Batters have to play to the merit of the ball, and the side batting first would be happy with 150 runs on the board.

Venue Details

Sylhet Outer Cricket Stadium is a good venue for the bowlers. The ball stops on the batters, making it ideal for the spinners. Fast bowlers have also done well with the new ball. Batters must be patient and spend time on the crease to do well on this ground.

Toss: To Bowl

The wicket at this venue has always offered assistance to the bowlers. The slow nature of the surface makes it difficult to set up totals. Chasing targets has been easier. We believe the side winning the toss shall have no hesitation in opting to bowl first.

INDW vs SLW

Winning Prediction

Sri Lanka Women have had a poor record against the Indians in the past. Their batters have struggled against quality bowling attacks. The side must play positive cricket to put their opponents under pressure. India Women have played exceedingly well in recent months. They have a strong line-up, and this would make them favourites.

India Women to win.
