Marco Silva has sustained a hefty fine for his comments on the referee. In the game against New Castle, the Fulham manager was involved in an argument with the referees, which led to the FA charging him. Fulham sustained a tough loss of 0-3 against New Castle. Following the loss in the previous year, Silva had reacted to the incident. The star manager had taken on Barrott.
The Fulham Manager had said that Sam Barrott lacked the experience to handle the pressure. In the game, Raul Jimenez was sent off the game midway and Silva was clearly not happy with it. The manager of Fulham pointed out that there was no action taken against Jamaal Lascelles, who had caught the Mexican a couple of minutes after the incident. He claimed that the star striker was unnecessarily sent out of the pitch.
The FA concluded that the comments of Silva were inappropriate. In their statement, FA wrote, “It is alleged that his comments in the post-match interviews following the fixture constitute improper conduct, in that they imply bias and/or question the integrity of and/or are insulting towards the match official and/or bring the game into disrepute.”
Silva to respond on January 8
The FA concluded that the behaviour of Silva was not appropriate. It was written by FA in their statement that post-match interviews have certain ways where the individuals would have to conduct themselves. The jury that decided to penalize Silva felt that the latter was not right in his actions. The FA’s statement read that one must not point out against the match officials.
The statement of the FA read that such incidents can be insulting to the match officials. Silva has been given a time of 4 days to respond to the incident. On the 8th of January, Silva would be asked to give the explanation on the incident. If Silva fails to justify his move, the charges will be implemented on the manager of Fulham.
