Iran’s embassy in Madrid addressed the wild allegations with a social media statement.
There are several media outlets from Iran like ‘Sharq Emroz’ and Rouydad24’ that claimed the Portugal star footballer Cristiano Ronaldo was set to be punished with a reported 99 lashes for adultery. The Iranian embassy in Madrid released a social media post, in which it had its statement regarding the allegations. The Iranian embassy expressed its disappointment in addressing the baseless claims. The statement of the embassy read that Ronaldo was received well by authorities and people in Iran on the 18th and 19th of September.
“We strongly deny the issuance of any sentence against any international athlete in Iran. It is of concern that the publication of such ill-founded news could cast a shadow over crimes against humanity and war crimes against the oppressed Palestinian nation,” read the statement of Iran’s embassy in Madrid.
“It should be noted that Cristiano Ronaldo travelled to Iran on September 18 and 19 to play in an official soccer match and was very well received by the people and the authorities. His sincere and humane meetings with Fatemeh Hamami were also praised and admired by both the people and the country’s sports authorities,” concluded the statement.

The claims from the fake news were that the 38-year-old star Footballer was in a relationship with Georgina Rodriguez. The allegations came after the Al-Nassr star travelled to Tehran with his team to face Persepolis in the Asian Champions League. Cristiano Ronaldo and his men won the match 2-0.
During his visit to Tehran, Ronaldo hugged the painter Fatemah Hamami, gave her a signed jersey and kissed her on the cheek. It was a token of gratitude from Cristiano for giving him artwork done using her leg. The fake news claimed that many Iranian lawyers filed cases against Ronaldo.
