Despite Marcus Rashford’s recent problems, Manchester United teammate Rasmus Hojlund has nothing but praise for the English attacker.
The Serie A team Atalanta sold the Danish striker to the Red Devils for £72 million in the summer. The 20-year-old was the most expensive U21 player the club had ever signed.
Hojlund has gotten off to a fantastic start for Manchester United, scoring three goals in two group-stage matches in the UEFA Champions League. Rashford, his athletic companion, has struggled.
The 25-year-old had an outstanding 2022–23 season, scoring 30 goals and dishing out 11 assists across 56 appearances across various leagues. However, he has only managed one goal along with three assists in ten games across all competitions to start the current season, and many have criticised his efforts.
‘He is a world-class football player’ – Rasmus Hojlund on Marcus Rashford
Hojlund, on the other hand, continues to think highly of Rashford as a player of the highest calibre and a colleague whom he likes working with. He stated to the Danish publication Tipsbladet as he said, “He is a world-class football player. I enjoy playing with a player like him.”
The offensive combo has shown promise, despite Manchester United’s poor recent performance, which hasn’t helped the situation. The team of Erik ten Hag has lost six out of its last ten games overall.
Last season, Rashford was considered one of the most perilous attackers in European sport. The England international is expected to regain the form that helped him earn the team’s Player of the Year accolade.
Hojlund has excelled despite his team’s dismal season debut. After his expensive transfer from Atlanta, he swiftly adjusted to his new surroundings at Old Trafford. The Danish international seems unfazed by the responsibility of being the new centre-forward for his favourite team. The contender for the Golden Boy 2023 honour has started six out of eight games in various tournaments and has taken centre stage in the Red Devils’ offence.
