Baba Ramdev was at the EKA Arena by TransStadia for the inauguration of the tenth edition of the Pro Kabaddi League on Saturday. Swami was called as the chief guest for the event, where he witnessed the action of one of the most exciting sports. On behalf of Patanjali, the partner of the tenth edition of the league, Ramdev attended the inaugural day of the season.
Baba Ramdev held high regard for Kabaddi. Speaking about the sport in India, Ramdev said “I have been playing kabaddi since I was five years old. I have grown up playing the game. I play kabaddi even now when I have the time. Today, kabaddi is the second biggest sport after cricket in India.”
Swami further praised the organizers of the tournament, Star Sports and Mashal Sports, with his kind words. “Kabaddi should be played more in schools and universities across India. We’ll have to grow the game even more. The organisers of the league have shown a lot of spirit while conducting PKL and have constructed a great platform for kabaddi players,” added Ramdev.
The inaugural day of the season saw two games being played. In the season opener, Gujarat Giants took on Telugu Titans. In the match, Gujarat overcame the Pawan Sehrawat-led side by a margin of 38-32. The second match of the night proved to be a thriller. U Mumba took on UP Yoddha in a closely fought battle. The champions of the second season defeated UP Yoddhas by a margin of 34-31.
