Star Pakistan Kabaddi player Shafiq Chishti is all set to be honoured with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan. He will be awarded on March 23 on the occasion of Pakistan Day. Pakistan President Arif Alvi announced his name as the country recognises his contribution and hard work for the game. Chishti’s name will also be added to an exclusive list of award winners. The addition of Chishti’s name to Pakistan’s exclusive list of accolades will firmly establish his status as a national hero.
In Pakistan, the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz is a prestigious civil honour. This esteemed award is granted to people who have made noteworthy achievements in their respective disciplines and who have elevated the nation via their actions. The success of Shafiq Chishti serves as motivation for young and ambitious athletes in Pakistan to work hard for their goals and represent their nation with pride.
Pakistan set to participate in Junior Kabaddi World Cup
Talking about the game, the Pakistan Kabaddi team is all set to participate in the 2nd Junior Kabaddi Championship 2023. The event is set to be organised by a new powerhouse of the game Iran in the capital city of Tehran. However, the first season was also organised by Iran in Kist Island in 2019 which was won by Iran while Kenya emerged as runners-up in the tournament.
The second edition of the World Junior Kabaddi Championship will commence between 26th February to March 5, 2023. This year’s tournament will be played by Iran, Iraq, Kenya, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Taiwan, India, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Syria, Uganda, Germany, Estonia, and Azerbaijan.
Notably, India is also looking to participate in the event after missing the first edition due to preparations of the Pro Kabaddi League and South Asian games. Indian Kabaddi Federation has organised a camp of 30 players from around the country to pick a team from them. India is likely to announce their squad in the upcoming days as Fifty Youth Khelo India Games are also finished.
