Team Japan doing the Hard yards ahead of the Asian Championship at Busan

Kabaddi has been a great sport for India, over the years. It has a wonderful heritage and history in the country. The Sport is deeply rooted to India’s culture and identity.

Kabaddi has brought a lot of laurels to the country. The last Kabaddi World Cup was won by India. The current event in the sport of Kabaddi is the Asian Championships at Busan in Korea. 

The Indian Men’s side goes into the event as defending champions. The tournament will take place between 27 to 30 June 2023. Once this tournament gets over the Asian Games will take centre stage. 

The games will take place in Hangzhou, China. The Asian Games add a lot of weightage to the sport of Kabaddi. Ahead of the start of the two tournaments, all teams have been going through the grind and have been practicing hard with all their might. 

The training camps are being conducted in full swing. The drills are going on. The final selection of the squads will be done very soon. The Indian Women’s side also starts the Asian Kabaddi Championship as defending champions. So far, only one team has managed to beat them once. 

The same goes for the Men’s team when they were beaten by the Iranian team five years earlier. The Men’s team have played a lot of Kabaddi matches in the Pro Kabaddi League as well. 

A team from Japan has made its way to Indian shores and have been hard at work trying to polish their Kabaddi skills. The Japan side have played two friendly games in Mumbai.

One game took place against Mumbai City and the other took place against Mumbai City Police. In terms of results, it has been a mixed bag for the Japanese team so far. 

They beat the Mumbai Police team 33-27 but lost against the Mumbai City side. Such practice games ahead of the Asian Kabaddi Championship will help the team from Japan go a long way.
